Why do my VuwaniTalk calls cut out mid-call?
Why a call drops halfway through and what you can do to keep it connected for longer.
A call that drops has a few usual causes
When a call cuts out mid-way, the connection was lost or the gatekeeper could not keep it alive. The most common causes are connection drops, a handover between networks, or your data running out.
- Intermittent signal: Moving between cell towers can briefly interrupt the data stream and drop the call. Staying in one spot often helps.
- Data ran out: If your data bundle finishes mid-call, the call is cut. Check your data allowance before a long call.
- Network congestion: Peak times can degrade the connection. If possible, call at a quieter time or on Wi-Fi.
- Background downloads: An app competing for all your bandwidth can choke the voice stream. Close heavy apps during calls.
How to reduce drops
The same tips that improve call quality also reduce drop-outs: use stable Wi-Fi, keep a good signal, keep your data topped up, and avoid running heavy downloads at the same time. See Improving call quality for the full list.
If calls keep dropping
Repeated drops on good connections may indicate a wider issue. Get in touch with support and let us know how often it happens, on what type of connection, and with which destinations.
