What is KYC verification and why do I need it?
An explanation of identity verification (KYC), what is required, and how your documents are kept safe.
KYC stands for Know Your Customer
KYC is a standard identity check that telecom and financial services use to confirm who you are. It helps prevent fraud, protects the network, and is often required when you order a dedicated number or in certain regions.
What you will be asked to provide
- A selfie photograph of yourself.
- A copy of your government-issued identity document (passport or national ID).
- Optionally, a photo of you holding your identity document for extra verification.
How your documents are handled
Your documents are stored securely with restricted access and used only to verify your identity and prevent fraud. We do not use facial recognition for any other purpose. If you delete your account, these documents are permanently removed.
Do I always need KYC?
Not for everyday calling. KYC is typically requested when you want a dedicated number (DID) or when required by regulation. For most common usage, standard sign-up is all you need.
